Surrender Your Siamese

If you are reading this page, it most likely is because you are considering giving up your companion.   There are many, many reasons why guardians feel they need to surrender their Siamese and we are not here to judge your decision.  However, we DO ask that you think it through VERY carefully before sending your companion to a new foster and then owner.

Siamese are VERY temperamental and if your Siamese is having a behavioral problem in your home, the problem most likely will not go away if he or she is asked to move.  In fact, the stress of adjusting to a new family with new surroundings can often make a behavioral problem worse.  In most situations, YOU are your Siamese's best bet for a happy life.  In many cases, our volunteers can work with you to eliminate a problem that has caused you to consider giving up your pet.  We are more than happy to do so.  Please contact information@purrsabound.com for help.

If surrendering your pet is the only solution available, please remember that we are a foster based organization and foster space will NOT be immediately available.  It is likely youwill need  to continue caring for your Siamese while we look for a home or until a foster home becomes available. Sometimes we can offer to courtesy post your cat on our web site. Please contact information@purrsabound.com for details about this option.

If you can NOT continue caring for your Siamese, we may be able to refer you to another organization who might be able to provide more immediate help if we are unable to do so.

Finally, if your Siamese is a Geezer Meezer (in other words, a senior Siamese), please, please consider your decision even more carefully.  In most instances, a senior Siamese will NOT adjust well to a foster home.  Experience has taught us that most Geezer Meezers have led very quiet lives either as an only kitty or with one or two other companion kitties.  If moved to a foster home, your Siamese will be asked to adjust to a multiple pet situation only to be asked to re adjust to another new home if we are fortunate enough to find a forever family for him or her.  Some Geezer Meezers adjust well.  For others, your decision to rehome them is a fate worse than death.  If you have a senior Siamese who needs help, please contact admin@purrsabound.com to discuss options.
