  Who We Are

Purrs Abound is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Rescue celebrating 23 years of participating in the rescue effort in March 2023! We are made up of men, women and their families from all walks of life, bound together by our love for cats.  Originally, Purrs Abound devoted their efforts to aiding specificallyp Siamese and other purebred cats and their mixes.  However, over our 23 years of rescue, our focus has changed to primarily aiding special needs and senior cats of ALL breeds.  To accomplish that goal, we typically assist the rescue effort by networking cats in need through posting their stories on Facebook and other social media platforms.  On a case by case basis, we do occasionally accept a cat into our very limited foster care program if a suitable foster family is available.

Because of our passion for helping seniors and special needs, Purrs Abound and our fosters also have a small retirement community providing permanent foster homes for several cats who have come to us over the years.  These are kitties who have a physical or emotional issue that made them difficult to place.  After a period of time, we have determined that asking these cats to make an adjustment into a new adopter's home would be detrimental to their well being.  After all, in their minds', their foster home IS  their forever home.  They know no difference.  We feel a strong commitment to these "purr guests" and hope that you will review our Sponsorship Information and consider helping us to provide them with the care they deserve.
